Top Ten Reasons to become Amish

1- You can build your house and bypass most of the city or county codes
2- You don't have to follow the vaccine schedule
3- If your house burns down, your neighbors will rebuild it, quickly
4- You don't have to worry about drunk drivers
5- You don't have to wash pesticide off your food
6- A husband will never have to tell his wife, she can't go out looking like that (too sexy)
7- Your wife will never take her husband to divorce court, take custody of the children, and take half the money
8- A wife never has to worry about her husband not providing for the family
9- Arguments between neighbors will never find it's way to a court of law
10- A parent will never have to pick up their child in the middle of the night because they are in a club too drunk to drive home

Amish History

The Amish have history in America that begins with their migration from Europe in the 18th and 19th centuries, seeking religious freedom and land in Pennsylvania, offered by William Penn. The first wave of settlers established communities, with the oldest and largest still being the one in Lancaster County Pennsylvania. A second wave of immigration followed in the mid-19th century, settling in other Midwestern states and Canada. Their history is marked by a commitment to Anabaptist principles of adult baptism, nonresistance, and a commitment to separation from worldly society, which they fulfill through distinct dress, pacifism, home-based worship, and a general avoidance of modern technology.

European Roots
Anabaptist Movement: the Amish originated from the Anabaptist movement during the 16th century Protestant Reformation in Europe. Anabaptist believe in adult baptism and separation from the state, leading to persecution.

Jacob Ammann: In the late 17th century, Swiss Anabaptist leader Jacob Ammann emphasized traditional practices, leading to a split from Mennonite groups and the formation of the distinct Amish tradition in 1693.

Top Ten Reasons the Amish should add Black People to their community

1- (so obvious) They can finally win a flag football game against the Mennonites, their cross religious rivals
2- Their children won't have to sneak into the barn to listen to good music
3- The men can finally pursue those designer sneakers they've been dreaming about
4- The congregation can finally find music beats 2 & 4
5- They can openly admit, sweet potato pie is better than pumpkin pie
6- They don't have to fight the urge to dance and shout in church
7- The women can get their hair braided. You know they been wanting that for a long time.
